Thiruvannamalai District, Tamil Nadu, India
Women and Child Development Society (WCDS) was established in 2001 in response to a social challenge observed in Kalambur village, Polur Taluk, Tiruvannamalai district, Tamil Nadu, India. It was noticed that elder girl children often stayed home to take care of their younger siblings, who remained at home because their parents were daily laborers. This situation made it difficult for the elder girls to attend school regularly. To encourage their continued education, WCDS began its first service by establishing a kindergarten where younger children could be cared for during school hours.

Ms. Niveditha acts as the Chapter Liaison for Purses' India Branch and brings together WCDS and Purses For A Purpose with aligning missions.
